Founded in 1933, this shop in Shirahama, Wakayama, is loved by locals as a famous confectionery store. While traditional wagashi such as monaka and kagerou made with adzuki beans are staples, Western sweets are also popular. On the day of my visit, custard pudding and baked cheesecake were available for sale. The pudding had a wonderful combination of the mellow taste of eggs and the bitterness of caramel sauce, which was exquisite. The baked cheesecake was made with plenty of creamy cheese, and the tart crust was perfectly baked, leaving me very satisfied. There is also a café attached, where you can enjoy meals and sweets leisurely while gazing at the scenery from the outdoor terrace.
