2026/05/13

Okinawa Peace Memorial Park is a park dedicated to praying for peace, located in the hilly area of Mabuni in Itoman City, the "End of the Okinawa Battle" in the southern part of the main island.

Overlooking the blue coastline, this site features the Peace Memorial Museum, which exhibits photos and relics from the Okinawa Battle, the "Cornerstone of Peace" inscribed with the names of all those who lost their lives in the battle, and the "Peace Memorial Statue" wishing for the souls of the fallen and lasting peace.

Additionally, on Mabuni Hill, there are 50 memorial towers established by various prefectures and organizations, including the National Okinawa War Dead Cemetery, making it a sacred place for peace education that many memorial groups, school trip students, and domestic and international tourists visit.

On the other hand, in the wide grassy area, families can be seen enjoying sports and picnics on holidays, making it a place of prayer as well as a beloved spot for relaxation.

A place to learn from the past, feel the peace of the present, and connect thoughts to the future. That is the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park.
