Hakugindo is a sacred place (Uganju) where the sea god is enshrined, and during events like the Lunar New Year, it becomes bustling with people praying for safe voyages and abundant catches throughout the year✨

It is also a place where traditional events such as the Itoman Haru and Itoman Great Tug-of-War are held, and inside the hall, natural stalagmites are enshrined as the guardian deity.

It is famous as the stage for the golden words (proverb) "Iji nu deji raa tebiki, te nu deji raa iji hiki (When you feel angry, do not act out, and when you feel like acting out, calm your heart)" and there are two legends regarding its origin, including one about a fisherman from Itoman and a samurai from Satsuma🌱
